Who is Dr. Ken Sun?

Dr. Ken Sun is an Allergist for both adult and pediatric patients.  
 
Dr. Sun completed his medical training in 2013 at McGill University.

Dr. Sun speaks both English and Mandarin.

Do I need to be referred?  If so, How?

Yes, Ministry of Health regulations require all patients to be referred to Dr. Sun from another physician.

Please have a referring physician (e.g. your family doctor) fax a referral to (647) 689-6237. 

Is OHIP required?

At the moment, patients seeking insured services must be covered by OHIP and not other provincial or third-party health plans.

What are the fees/costs?

Medically necessary procedures and services are generally covered by OHIP. No direct patient payment is required.


What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

  • Your valid OHIP card

  • Your current medicines.

  • If you are being referred for a potential food allergy: bring in small samples of all fresh foods that you suspect you may be allergic to (e.g. fruits, vegetables, legumes, fish, seafood, meats, etc.) . These may be needed for your allergy testing.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

Please stop antihistamines for 3 days before your visit. Antihistamines can prevent allergy tests from working.

Examples of antihistamines:

  • Benadryl, which is diphenhydramine

  • Reactine, Zyrtec or Aller-Relief, which is cetirizine

  • Allegra 12-Hour or Allegra 24-Hour, which is fexofenadine

  • Claritin or Claritin-Kids, which is loratadine

  • Blexten, which is bilastine

  • Rupall which is rupatadine

  • Sleep aids like Tylenol PM or Advil PM, which contain diphenhydramine

    Please continue all other medications including asthma medications, eczema creams, and nasal sprays.

If you booked online, please arrive at least 15 minutes early for your appointment.

In general, please plan to stay for up to 2 hours.

The first portion of your appointment will be to complete intake forms before seeing the physician. Unfortunately, to help your doctor stay on schedule, if you arrive late for your appointment, there is a possibility that you will not be seen, or that you will be asked to wait until the next break in the schedule.


will i be tested for all allergies?

Your appointment will focus on the specific potential allergies that you are referred for.

If you have other concerns, please advise Dr. Sun during your visit.

Will I get results from Dr. Sun, or my Family Doctor?

Skin test results will typically be available during your office visit. The results will be explained at this time.


HOW DO I SCHEDULE MY FIRST APPOINTMENT (I.E. INITIAL CONSULTATION, INTAKE APPOINTMENT)

If we're able to accept the referral, we'll contact you directly to schedule an appointment within approximately 5 business days.

If we don’t reach you we will try to leave you a message (voicemail and/or text). Once you receive our message, you can schedule online, or you can call us between the hours of 11AM and 1PM, Monday to Thursday, at the extension supplied in our message.

HOW DO I RESCHEDULE OR CANCEL MY SCHEDULED FIRST APPOINTMENT

Please show consideration to your fellow patients by cancelling or rescheduling appointments as early as possible. Kindly note that a fee will be payable in the event of a missed appointment, or appointments cancelled less than 48 hours in advance,

If you cancel your appointment, you will have 6 weeks to schedule another appointment. After that point you will need a new referral.
